Ossu!! Karate-bu is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Culture Brain for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1994. Based on the long-running Japanese manga series by Kōji Takahashi, the game follows Yoshiyuki Takagi as he defends his reputation against rival gang leaders in Osaka. Rather than standard fighting game mechanics, it introduces a unique “Konjō” (spirit) system where matches typically consist of only one round, and you must strategically manage energy to survive and counterattack.
How to play
The objective is to deplete your opponent’s health bar in a single-round match. Use the standard SNES controls in your browser: the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move and block, and the face buttons (Z, X, A, S) for punches and kicks. Enter and Shift map to Start and Select. To charge your Konjō energy meter, hold a shoulder button while blocking or take hits from your opponent.
Tips
- Use your energy to recover: If you are knocked down and your health is depleted, you can expend your accumulated Konjō energy to recover and get back in the fight.
- Unleash super attacks: Once charged, your energy can also be used to perform devastating super attacks by holding the attack buttons or inputting specific combinations.
