Game description:

Oscar is a classic side-scrolling platformer released for the SNES in 1996. Developed by Flair Software, the game drops you into a variety of Hollywood-themed movie sets where you guide the titular character on a quest to recover missing golden statuettes. With its colorful graphics and upbeat soundtrack, it offers a vibrant trip through different cinematic worlds, from horror flicks to sci-fi adventures.

How to Play

Your primary objective in each level is to find a set number of Oscar statuettes before the clapperboard timer runs out. Once you have collected enough, you can exit the stage. Since this is an SNES title, the default controls use the D-pad to move, the B button to jump, and the Y button to use weapons like your trusty yo-yo. In the browser, these map to the arrow keys for movement, with Z for jump and X for attack, plus Enter for Start.

Tips

  • Explore everywhere: The statuettes are often hidden in hard-to-reach places or behind false walls, so take your time to search every corner of the movie sets.
  • Master the yo-yo: The yo-yo isn’t just for attacking enemies; it can be used to grapple and swing from specific points, allowing you to cross wide gaps and reach higher platforms.
