Game description:

Released by Tecmo in 1995, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy brings Ryu Hayabusa’s three notoriously difficult action-platformers to the SNES. The compilation updates the visuals and soundtracks of the original 8-bit games while preserving their fast-paced combat, precise jumps, and cinematic cutscenes. It also introduces a helpful password system to save your progress across the demanding stages.

How to play

The goal across all three titles is to guide Ryu through hostile, side-scrolling environments, relying on his dragon sword and limited-use sub-weapons to defeat enemies and challenging bosses. Your agility is key, as you must frequently cling to walls and time your jumps perfectly to survive the relentless enemy placements.

Tips

  • Enemies respawn immediately if you scroll their spawn point off and back onto the screen, so push forward decisively rather than retreating.
  • Conserve your spiritual energy for the Spin Slash sub-weapon, which makes many of the toughest boss fights significantly easier.
  • When clinging to a wall, you can scale it quickly by jumping away and immediately steering back toward the wall to grab a higher spot.
