NFL Football is a classic sports title released for the NES in 1989 by LJN. As the first American football video game to feature official National Football League licensing, it allows you to hit the gridiron with real teams and logos from the era. Players can take their favourite franchise through a single exhibition match, an interconference battle, or push all the way through a full Super Bowl campaign.
How to Play
The objective is to outscore your opponent by executing successful offensive plays and defending your end zone. Choose from a selection of offensive and defensive formations before each snap. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to steer your players. Press Z (A button) to pass the ball or dive for a tackle, and X (B button) to sprint or switch defenders. Use Enter (Start) to pause or confirm play selections, and Shift (Select) to navigate menus.
Tips
Passing requires precise timing; receivers stick strictly to their chosen play routes, so you must anticipate where they will be rather than throwing to where they currently are. When on defense, manually controlling a lineman to rush the quarterback is often more effective than relying on the computer-controlled secondary.
