Game description:

NFL Quarterback Club 98 is an American football simulation game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim Sports, it stood out in the early N64 lineup by featuring the full NFL and NFLPA licenses, meaning it included all 30 real-world teams, authentic stadiums, and official player rosters for the 1997 season. The game is remembered for its high-resolution 3D graphics and realistic motion-captured animations, offering a true-to-life broadcast football experience as you play through exhibition matches, a full season, or jump straight into the playoffs.

How to Play

The objective is to lead your chosen NFL team to victory, either in single matches or by taking them all the way to the Super Bowl. On the Nintendo 64, use the analog stick or D-pad to maneuver your players. On offense, the A button is used to snap the ball and perform action moves, while the B button is typically used for sprinting. When passing, the C-buttons correspond to specific receivers. On defense, the A button dives for a tackle and the B button switches control to the defender closest to the ball. In your browser, the stick or D-pad maps to the arrow keys, A and B map to X and Z, the C-buttons map to I, J, K, and L, and the Start button maps to Enter.

Tips

  • Master the Passing Icons: Once the ball is snapped, pay close attention to the C-button icons that appear above your eligible receivers. Quickly pressing the correct button the moment a receiver gets separation from a defender is critical to a successful passing game.
  • Manage the Clock: Pay attention to the play clock and game time. Use the sidelines to step out of bounds and stop the clock if you are trailing late in a half, and run the ball up the middle to keep the clock moving when protecting a lead.
