Game description:

Mortal Kombat II for the NES is an unofficial, unlicensed fighting game port of the arcade classic. Attempting to squeeze the brutal combat and iconic fighters onto an 8-bit cartridge, it plays with the typical quirks of unauthorized demakes, including stiff mechanics, flickering graphics, and altered physics.

How to Play

The objective is to drain your opponent’s health bar in one-on-one combat using punches, kicks, and special moves. Since the original six-button arcade layout is condensed to the NES controller, execution requires practice. Navigate the arena with the Arrow keys (D-pad), attack with Z and X (A and B buttons), press Enter to Start, and use Shift for Select.

Tips

  • The AI in this bootleg version can be highly aggressive but struggles with repetitive patterns; find a reliable projectile or jump kick and use it repeatedly to trap the computer.
  • Because the input detection is somewhat floaty, try entering special move commands slightly earlier than you normally would.
