Game description:

Developed by New World Computing in 1991, this classic SNES role-playing game drops your party of six adventurers into a vast, first-person open world. You will explore the perilous archipelagos of Terra, engaging in grid-based exploration and turn-based tactical combat. The game is notable for its intricate puzzles and a distinctive interface where character portraits visually reflect their current health, poison, or status in real time.

How to play

Your objective is to explore the world, build your party’s strength, and uncover the overarching plot by tracking down the legendary adventurer Corak. The game uses grid-based movement and turn-based combat. Navigate menus and control your party using the mapping below:

Tips

  • Equip everyone with ranged weapons as early as possible. Since enemies are visible on the map and approach in real-time, you can soften them up with volleys of arrows before they reach melee range.
  • Learn and utilize the Jump and Teleport spells; they are essential for avoiding floor traps, crossing gaps, and navigating dungeons efficiently.
  • Keep a close eye on your party’s portraits at the bottom of the screen. Their facial expressions will change to instantly warn you if they are poisoned, diseased, or near death.
