Released in 1994 by Capcom, Mega Man X2 is a fast-paced action-platformer for the SNES. Set shortly after the events of its predecessor, you control X as he battles a new group of Mavericks known as the X-Hunters to recover the scattered parts of his fallen ally, Zero. The sequel retains the tight wall-jumping mechanics and expands on them with new hidden armor upgrades, varied special weapons, and vehicle sections using the Ride Chaser motorcycle.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate eight hazard-filled stages, defeat the Maverick boss at the end of each, and claim their special weapon to exploit the weaknesses of other bosses.
- Move: Arrow Keys
- Jump (B): X
- Shoot (Y): S
- Dash (A): Z
- Special Weapon (X): A
- Cycle Weapons (L/R): Q / E
- Select / Start: Shift / Enter
Tips
- Start with Wire Sponge: His stage is relatively easy to navigate, and his Strike Chain weapon is the primary weakness of Overdrive Ostrich.
- Find the Leg Upgrade: Located in Overdrive Ostrich’s stage, this armor part grants the ability to perform a mid-air dash, which is essential for reaching secrets in other levels.
- Hunt the X-Hunters early: Once they appear on the stage select screen, prioritize fighting Violen, Serges, and Agile in the secret rooms of the Maverick stages to successfully reconstruct Zero before the finale.
