Mega Man 7 is a classic action-platformer developed by Capcom and released for the SNES in 1995. Marking the original series’ only true 16-bit console entry, it introduces larger, more detailed sprites alongside series staples like stealing boss weapons and sliding. The game also marks the debut of Mega Man’s rival, Bass, and introduces Auto’s shop, where you can spend collected bolts on upgrades and items.
How to Play
You begin with a choice of four Robot Masters (Burst Man, Cloud Man, Junk Man, and Freeze Man) before unlocking the remaining four. Defeat each boss to acquire their unique weapon, which is typically the weakness of another boss in the roster. Use the directional keys (ââââ) to move, Z to jump, and X to shoot or charge your Mega Buster. Use Q and E (the L and R shoulder buttons) to quickly cycle through your acquired weapons without pausing.
Tips
- Freeze the environment: The Freeze Cracker isn’t just for combat. You can shoot it at the lava in Turbo Man’s stage to safely walk across it.
- Find the R-U-S-H letters: Search the first four stages for four hidden plates spelling R-U-S-H. Collecting them all unlocks the Rush Super Adaptor, granting a jetpack double-jump and a powerful homing punch.
- Prepare for the finale: The final Wily Capsule is notoriously one of the hardest bosses in the franchise. Stock up on Energy Tanks from Auto’s shop, and use charged Wild Coils to hit him when he appears high on the screen.
