Released by Capcom in 1993, this defining action-platformer is the final entry in the classic series on the NES. Players once again guide the Blue Bomber, this time navigating an international tournament hijacked by the mysterious Mr. X. The game introduces the Rush Adaptors, allowing you to fuse with your robotic companion to form Jet and Power armors that fundamentally change your traversal and combat options.
How to play
Your objective is to defeat eight Robot Masters, claiming their unique weapons to exploit the weaknesses of the remaining bosses. Use the arrow keys to move, Z to jump, X to shoot (or hold to charge your Buster), and Enter to pause and access your weapon inventory.
Tips
- The Power Adaptor breaks cracked blocks to reveal hidden paths and alternate boss doors, which hold the letters needed to unlock the companion bird, Beat.
- The Jet Adaptor is perfect for bypassing tricky platforming sections, but watch its energy meter closely as it drains rapidly while flying.
- Flame Man’s weapon, the Flame Blast, is highly effective against Blizzard Man and can also melt ice blocks that impede your progress in certain stages.
