Mega-Lo-Mania (also known as Tyrants: Fight Through Time) is an early real-time strategy and god game brought to the SNES. You control one of four deities competing for control of various islands across time. Rather than micro-managing individual troops on a battlefield, gameplay focuses on macro-management: assigning your population to gather resources, research new technologies, and manufacture weapons to advance from throwing stones in the Stone Age to deploying nuclear weapons in the future.
How to Play
As a console port of an Amiga classic, the game uses a cursor-based interface. Use the D-pad (mapped to Arrow keys) to move your cursor around the map and menus. Press the A button (X key) to select units, assign tasks, or interact with the interface, and the B button (Z key) to cancel actions. Start (Enter) pauses the game. Your primary goal on each island is to gather resources, out-tech your opponents by advancing through epochs, build up an army, and destroy the enemy’s citadel.
Tips
- Defend the Citadel: Always leave enough men in your citadel to defend it; if your base is destroyed, you lose the island.
- Tech is King: Prioritize researching the highest available tech tier as quickly as possible. A smaller force with advanced weapons will easily wipe out a larger, primitive army.
- Scout for Elements: Keep an eye on resource distribution before choosing your starting sector; securing access to the specific elements needed for advanced weapons is crucial for the mid-to-late game.
