Marble Madness is a classic isometric action game published for DOS by Electronic Arts in 1984. Players must guide a fragile marble through a series of surreal, hazard-filled courses against a strict time limit, carefully managing physics and momentum to survive.
How to play
The objective is to reach the finish line of each level before the timer runs out. You must navigate narrow ramps, steep drops, and obstacles without falling off the edge or being destroyed by enemies like acid pools and the aggressive black “Steelie” marbles. Use the arrow keys to control the marble’s direction and momentum.
Tips
- Momentum is everything; learn when to brake before sharp turns and when to accelerate for steep climbs.
- Falling off the edge costs precious seconds. It is usually better to take a safer path than to risk a dangerous shortcut, unless time is critically low.
- The black Steelie marbles will try to knock you off the course. While you can sometimes push them over the edge if you have enough speed, it is often safer to steer clear entirely.
