Maniac Mansion is a classic graphic adventure game released for the NES in 1990 by Lucasfilm Games. How to Play
As a point-and-click adventure ported to the NES, you use the cursor to select verbs and interact with objects in the environment. In your browser, use the arrow keys to move the cursor (D-pad), press Z to select actions or objects (A), and use X to back out or cancel (B). Press Enter (Start) to pause or skip cutscenes. The objective is to solve puzzles and progress through the mansion without getting your characters captured or killed.
Tips
- Choose your starting team carefully! Different characters like Bernard the nerd or Syd the musician have unique abilities that open up completely different solutions and endings.
- Switch between your three characters frequently using the “New Kid” command. Many puzzles require teamwork, like having one character distract a resident while another explores a room.
- Be cautious with your actions, as permadeath is possible. Saving often is not an option here, so avoid doing things like draining the pool unnecessarily or activating the nuclear reactor without a plan!
