Game description:

Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr. is a baseball sim that Angel Studios built for the Nintendo 64, published by Nintendo in 1998. It carried a full MLB license covering all 30 team stadiums and put Seattle Mariners star Ken Griffey Jr. on the cover, following on from Nintendo’s earlier Ken Griffey Jr.’s Winning Run. Compared to its main N64 rival, the more simulation-minded All-Star Baseball ’99, this one played faster and more arcade-like.

How to Play

Choose Exhibition, a full Season, the World Series, or four-player Home Run Derby. At the plate, you move a circle over the strike zone with the analog stick to line up contact on the incoming pitch. On the mound, you pick from four pitch types — fastball, breaking ball, changeup, and a special pitch — shaped by each pitcher’s Speed, Stamina, and Control ratings, while batters carry their own Batting, Power, Speed, Defense, and Arm ratings. In the browser, the standard N64 mapping applies: arrow keys for the analog stick, Z and X for the A and B buttons, Shift for the C buttons and Z trigger, and Enter for Start.

Tips

Track the batting circle onto the ball rather than swinging blind — placement matters more than timing alone. Mix up your four pitch types instead of leaning on the fastball, and favor a pitcher’s Control rating when you need to work the corners late in a close game. If you just want a quick match, Home Run Derby skips season management entirely and supports up to four players.
