Mahjong Club (マージャン倶楽部) is a digital adaptation of the traditional Chinese tile-based game, developed by Natsu System and released for the Super Famicom in 1994. Published by Hect, the game offers a classic Japanese Riichi Mahjong experience featuring standard turn-based gameplay and various difficulty levels to accommodate different skill sets.

How to play

The objective is to form a winning hand of 14 tiles (four sets and a pair) before your opponents. Controls use the Super Famicom layout: use the D-pad to select tiles and navigate menus, the A button to confirm actions or discard a tile, and the B button to cancel. In the browser emulator, these map to the arrow keys, Z/X, and Enter/Shift.

Tips

Keep an eye on the opponents’ discards (the “river”) to avoid dealing into their winning hand, a defensive strategy known as betaori. If you are new to the game, start on the lowest difficulty to learn the pacing and common yaku (winning patterns) without being overly punished.
