Game description:

Madden NFL 2000 brings the hard-hitting action of American football to the Nintendo 64. Released by EA Sports in 1999, this installment introduces a deep Franchise Mode, allowing players to manage their favorite NFL teams across multiple seasons. Featuring updated rosters for the 1999 season, realistic playbooks, and the iconic commentary duo of John Madden and Pat Summerall, it remains a standout gridiron experience from the 64-bit era.

How to Play

Your objective is to outscore the opposing team by advancing the football down the field to score touchdowns or field goals. In the browser, use the arrow keys to emulate the N64 Control Stick, letting you navigate menus, steer your ball carrier, or direct your defense. The X key acts as the A button to snap the ball, pass, or sprint, while the Z key functions as the B button for dives and tackles. Press Enter (Start) to pause the game or call timeouts.

Tips for Success

  • Master the audibles: Read the defense before snapping the ball. If you see a blitz coming, change your play at the line of scrimmage to a quick pass.
  • Utilize the juke: When running the ball, a well-timed juke can break a defender’s ankles. Avoid overusing the sprint button until you are in the open field, as it makes your player less agile.
  • Manage the clock: In close games, clock management is crucial. Run the ball to keep the clock moving when you have the lead, and use timeouts and out-of-bounds plays to save time when trailing.
