Game description:

Link no Bouken, widely known as Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, is the classic 1987 action-RPG developed by Nintendo for the NES. Diverging from the top-down perspective of its predecessor, this sequel introduced side-scrolling combat, experience points, and towns filled with NPCs. Players guide Link across the sprawling land of Hyrule to prevent the resurrection of Ganon and awaken Princess Zelda from a magical slumber.

How to Play

Your goal is to place six crystals in palaces scattered across Hyrule to unlock the Great Palace and claim the Triforce of Courage. Overworld exploration happens from a top-down view, but random encounters, towns, and dungeons switch to side-scrolling platforming and combat.

  • Arrow Keys: D-Pad (Move / Block high or low)
  • X: A Button (Jump)
  • Z: B Button (Attack)
  • Enter: Start (Pause / Open menu)
  • Shift: Select (Use magic spell)

Tips

  • Your shield automatically blocks projectiles if you stand still or crouch without attacking. Master this to survive battles against Iron Knuckles.
  • If you lose all your lives, you will return to the starting palace, but you retain your levels, magic, and key items.
  • Use the Fairy spell to bypass difficult locked doors in dungeons if you are short on keys, as the fairy form can fly straight through keyholes.
