Legendary Wings is a classic vertical and side-scrolling shoot-'em-up developed by Capcom and released for the NES in 1988. Set in a distant future where humanity relies on a supercomputer named Ares, you control a winged soldier tasked with defeating an alien system that has turned rogue. The gameplay uniquely shifts between top-down vertical shooting sections and side-scrolling platforming segments whenever you are pulled into the underground danger zones.
How to Play
Your objective is to shoot your way through alien forces, upgrade your firepower, and defeat the bosses at the end of each stage. In the vertical sections, you can fire air-to-air shots and drop bombs on ground targets. In the side-scrolling sections, you navigate on foot.
Controls: Use the Arrow Keys (D-pad) to move. Press Z to drop bombs or jump, and X to fire your main weapon (A/B buttons). Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Collect the weapon power-ups to upgrade your standard gun to lasers or the powerful fire weapons, but avoid taking damage as you will downgrade.
- When sucked into the underground danger zones, proceed carefully; these side-scrolling areas act as penalty or bonus stages depending on your performance.
