Developed by Codemasters Software and released in 1990, Kwik Snax is a fast-paced action-puzzle game for DOS. Starring the classic egg hero Dizzy, the game shifts away from his usual adventure platforming into top-down maze challenges where you must collect all the fruit on each level while dodging enemies and navigating around blocks.
How to play
The goal of each level is to collect every piece of fruit to progress and rescue your friends. Dizzy cannot attack enemies directly; instead, you must slide blocks across the screen to crush them, similar to the arcade classic Pengo. The game is controlled using standard MS-DOS keyboard inputs (typically the arrow keys to move), and you can enter fullscreen mode by pressing Right Alt + Enter.
Tips
- Master block sliding: Sliding blocks is your main defense against enemies. Wait for them to align in a row before pushing a block to take out multiple foes at once.
- Watch your step: Once a block is pushed, it slides until it hits a wall or another object. Make sure you don’t accidentally trap yourself in a corner or block off the remaining fruit you need to collect.
- Collect the tokens: Keep an eye out for tokens that appear in the maze, which can give you bonus points, a smart bomb to clear the screen, or other helpful effects.
