Game description:

Step into the ring with Knockout Kings 2000, the premier boxing simulation released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999 by EA Sports. Featuring a massive roster of legendary fighters including Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Evander Holyfield, the game balances arcade-style fast-paced action with technical boxing mechanics. Players can bob, weave, and throw devastating combinations while managing their fighter’s stamina, offering a surprisingly deep experience for the era’s 3D sports titles.

How to Play

The goal is to outbox your opponent over several rounds to win by decision, or secure a knockout by draining their health. Standard Nintendo 64 controls apply in the browser: use the Arrow Keys to move your fighter around the ring, X and C (mapped to A and B) to throw standard punches, and WASD (C-buttons) combined with the Z trigger (usually mapped to Z or Shift) to execute blocks, weaves, and signature power punches. Press Enter for Start to pause the game.

Tips

  • Manage Your Stamina: Don’t throw wild haymakers constantly. Throwing too many punches will drain your stamina, making your fighter sluggish and vulnerable to counterattacks.
  • Work the Body: Mix up your targets. Landing body blows might not cause an instant knockout, but it drains the opponent’s long-term stamina, making them easier to finish in the later rounds.
  • Use the Jab: Rely on quick jabs to interrupt your opponent’s combinations and measure the distance before committing to a heavy cross or uppercut.
