Kamen Rider Club is a unique hybrid game for the NES, developed by TOSE and published by Bandai in Japan in 1988. Rather than a standard action game, it blends 2D side-scrolling platforming with traditional turn-based RPG elements. Players control members of the Kamen Rider roster as they infiltrate “Shocker Land” to defeat the evil Shocker organization.
How to Play
The objective is to guide your Kamen Riders through Shocker Land and bring down the Shocker organization. The action is split into two phases: navigating the stages as a platformer, and engaging in turn-based RPG battles whenever you collide with an enemy. In the browser, the standard NES controls are mapped to the Arrow Keys for movement, Z/X for the A/B buttons, and Enter/Shift for Start/Select.
Tips
- Embrace the RPG mechanics: Unlike typical platformers, you cannot defeat enemies by attacking them in the overworld. Touching them intentionally initiates a battle screen where you must select commands.
- Leveling is key: Take the time to fight enemies and earn experience to level up your Riders, as stronger stats are required to survive the later areas.
