Jr. Pac-Man is a 1983 action maze game for the Atari 2600 that expands upon the classic dot-munching formula. Moving away from a static single screen, the game introduces scrolling mazes that are larger than the display. As Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man’s son, you must navigate these extended labyrinths to clear every dot while dodging the ghosts. The key twist involves the roaming prizesโif they touch normal dots, they enlarge them. These larger dots are worth more points but noticeably slow your movement speed when eaten, adding a challenging layer of board management to the chase.
How to play
Guide Jr. Pac-Man through the scrolling maze to eat all the dots while avoiding the four ghosts. Eating a power pellet temporarily turns the ghosts blue, allowing you to consume them for extra points. Use the Arrow Keys (โโโโ) to navigate the maze.
Tips
- Watch the prizes: Try to catch bouncing prizes quickly. If they enlarge too many dots, eating through those sections will slow your movement and make you an easy target.
- Protect your energizers: Be careful not to let a prize touch a power pellet. It will destroy the pellet entirely, robbing you of the chance to turn the tables on the ghosts.
- Mind the scroll: Since ghosts can be off-screen in the expanded maze, keep track of where they were last seen to avoid being cornered when you move to a new area.
