Jovial Race is an unlicensed maze driving game released for the NES in 1989 by Joy Van and published by Sachen. As an unofficial port of the classic arcade hit Rally-X, it drops you into an overhead maze where you must gather scattered flags while outmanoeuvring a fleet of pursuing enemy cars.
How to Play
Your objective is to collect every flag on the map to advance to the next stage. You can deploy smoke screens to temporarily stun enemy vehicles that are tailing you, but doing so consumes your limited fuel. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to steer your car through the maze, and press the A or B button (Z or X) to release a smoke screen. Press Start (Enter) to begin.
Tips
Keep a close eye on the radar to track down remaining flags and spot approaching enemies before they enter your screen. Save your smoke screens for emergencies when you are cornered, as running out of fuel will cost you a life.
