Joe Blade II is a side-scrolling action game developed by Players Software for MS-DOS in 1988. Leaving behind the military setting of its predecessor, this sequel casts you as a vigilante tasked with clearing the crime-ridden streets of a futuristic London. To succeed, you must dispatch armored thugs and rescue kidnapped civilians within a strict ten-minute time limit.
How to play
Your objective is to defeat a set quota of enemies and rescue a specific number of civilians before time runs out. Since the thugs wear body armor, traditional attacks won’t workโyou must jump and kick them in the head to take them down. When you reach a civilian, the action pauses for a tense, 60-second mini-game where you must quickly organize a sequence of numbers or patterns to free them. Play using the keyboard; movement is mapped to the arrow keys, with the spacebar or control keys used for jumping and kicking. Press ‘Right Alt’ + ‘Enter’ to toggle fullscreen mode.
Tips
- Prioritize head kicks: Thugs cannot be damaged by body shots, so master the timing of your jump kicks to quickly clear the street.
- Stay calm during puzzles: The timer during rescue sequences can induce panic, but take a second to identify the pattern before shifting numbers around.
