Game description:

Jikuu Senshi Turok is the 1997 Japanese release of the landmark Nintendo 64 first-person shooter, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. Developed by Iguana Entertainment, it redefined console shooters with its massive, open-ended environments and smooth 3D movement. Players step into the role of Tal’Set, exploring the prehistoric jungles of the Lost Land to collect pieces of the Chronoscepter and stop the evil Campaigner from conquering the universe.

How to Play

The goal is to navigate expansive levels, hunt down keys to unlock new areas, and survive encounters with heavily armed mercenaries and deadly dinosaurs. By default on the Nintendo 64, movement is handled using the C-buttons, while the analog stick controls aiming. The Z-trigger fires your weapon, A and B cycle through your arsenal, and the R button is for jumping. When playing in the browser, map your keys carefully to replicate this dual-stick style control scheme for the best experience.

Tips

  • Keep an eye out for Life Force triangles; collecting 100 will grant you an extra life, which is crucial for surviving the challenging platforming sections.
  • The Tek Bow is incredibly effective for stealth and long-range accuracy. Use it with explosive arrows to conserve your heavy ammunition for boss fights.
  • Exploration is mandatory. Levels are large and non-linear, so consult your overlay map frequently to spot paths hidden by the heavy distance fog.
