Game description:

James Pond 3: Operation Starfish is a classic 2D platformer for the SNES that takes the aquatic secret agent to the Moon. As the sequel to Codename: RoboCod, this installment introduces a strong emphasis on speed and momentum-based physics. With sprawling lunar levels packed with hidden routes and collectables, the game takes heavy inspiration from Super Mario World, giving Pond the ability to sprint, use high-tech gadgets, and explore branching paths.

How to Play

Your objective is to guide James Pond across the Moon’s surface to stop the evil Dr. Maybe’s mining operation. You will need to find the exit beacons in each level while collecting stars and items.

  • Move: Arrow Keys
  • Jump: Z or X
  • Run / Action: A or S
  • Start/Pause: Enter
  • Select: Shift

Tips

  • Build Momentum: James Pond’s movement relies heavily on inertia in this entry. You will need to build up speed with a running start to clear wide gaps or scale steep slopes.
  • Explore Everywhere: The lunar levels are expansive and highly non-linear. Searching off the beaten path will lead you to hidden routes, extra lives, and useful items.
  • Use the Gadgets: Look out for special mechanical gadgets like the spring-boots, which will let you reach high ledges that are otherwise inaccessible.
