Released by Nintendo in 1985 for the NES, Ice Climber is a classic vertical platformer. Players take on the role of Popo to scale 32 treacherous, ice-covered mountains and recover stolen vegetables from a giant condor.
How to Play
The objective is to break through layers of ice from below and jump up to the summit. Watch out for roaming enemies like Topis and Nitickers, as well as falling icicles. In your browser, use the Arrow keys to move, Z and X to jump and swing your mallet, and Enter to Start.
Tips
- Jumping has strict horizontal momentum; you must be moving in the direction you want to jump before you leave the ground.
- You can defeat enemies by hitting them with your mallet, or by striking the ice block directly beneath them from below.
- During the bonus stage at the mountain’s peak, focus on reaching the top rather than collecting every vegetable, as falling off the screen ends the phase.
