Released by Konami in 1984, Hyper Sports is an action-sports sequel to Track & Field for the NES that challenges players across a demanding multi-event competition. Leaving the standard track behind, you compete in a fresh set of disciplinesโincluding swimming, skeet shooting, and archeryโrelying on raw button-mashing speed and split-second execution to set records.
How to Play
Your objective is to meet the minimum qualifying score in each event to avoid elimination. Gameplay revolves around rapidly alternating the A and B buttons (mapped to X and Z on your keyboard) to build power or speed. The directional arrows handle timing-critical actions, such as taking a breath while swimming or choosing the exact angle of your jump.
Tips
- In the swimming event, breathing is essential. You must press up to take a breath when prompted, or your swimmer will stall out regardless of your mashing speed.
- During skeet shooting, watch the outer edges of the screen to spot clay targets early, giving yourself maximum time to align your shots.
