Game description:

Hyper Olympic (Genteiban!) is a special 1985 limited-edition release of Konami’s classic track-and-field arcade game for the NES. This rare Japanese version replaces the standard athlete with popular comedian Ken Shimura’s character, Baka Tono-sama, and introduces a much-requested event selection menu that lets you pick exactly which sport to play from the start.

How to Play

The game challenges you to qualify in four intense athletic events: the 100-meter dash, long jump, javelin throw, and 110-meter hurdles. Like the arcade original, success requires relentless button mashing to build up running speed, followed by precise timing. Rapidly tap the A and B buttons to sprint, and use the D-pad to execute your jumps and throws.

Tips

  • In the long jump and javelin throw, aim to release exactly at a 45-degree angle to achieve maximum distance.
  • During the 110-meter hurdles, it is better to jump slightly early; clipping a hurdle will instantly ruin your momentum.
