The Humans is a 1992 puzzle-platformer developed by Imagitec and published by GameTek for DOS. You take command of a tribe of early humans, guiding them through increasingly complex prehistoric environments by discovering tools, surviving hazards, and working together to solve logic puzzles.

How to Play

Your objective in each level is to safely navigate a set number of tribe members to the exit. The core mechanic relies on cooperation: you can freely switch control between your humans to pass items, throw spears, or build human ladders to reach high ledges. The game uses standard DOS keyboard controls, with the arrow keys for movement and the spacebar to use the currently equipped tool.

• The human ladder: Stacking your tribe members is essential for scaling tall walls, but the characters at the base of the ladder cannot move or defend themselves while supporting the stack.
• Passing items: Tools like the spear, rope, and torch can be thrown across gaps to other tribe members. Carefully managing who holds each tool before splitting your group is key to solving the puzzles.
