Heavy Barrel is a top-down military run-and-gun shooter published by Data East for the NES in 1987. Players control elite infiltrators fighting through heavily fortified enemy bases to stop a rogue terrorist faction from launching a nuclear missile.
How to Play
Advance through enemy installations, dodging infantry fire, armored vehicles, and static turrets. As you battle through each area, open locked supply crates using keys dropped by special red enemy soldiers. Collecting all six pieces of the Heavy Barrel super-weapon grants temporary access to an extremely powerful, screen-clearing energy cannon with 99 rounds of ammunition.
Controls in the browser map directly to standard keyboard keys: use the Arrow keys to move, X to fire your primary weapon (Button A), Z to lob grenades (Button B), Enter to Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips & Strategy
Save keys for marked crates that contain Heavy Barrel component pieces rather than standard power-up boxes. Once assembled, hold the Heavy Barrel weapon for major boss encounters or dense waves of heavy armor, as its firepower incinerates bosses in seconds. Keep moving diagonally to avoid incoming enemy bullets and watch out for hidden landmines embedded in the ground.
