Released by Atari in 1984, this action shooter for the Atari 2600 adapts the classic movie into a fast-paced, two-phase arcade challenge. Playing as Billy Peltzer, you must manage waves of creatures, trying to catch innocent Mogwai while fending off those that transform into dangerous monsters.
How to play
In the first phase, you must catch falling Mogwai before they can reach the hamburgers at the bottom of the screen. Any that eat the food transform, shifting the game to a second phase where you must shoot the descending enemies before they reach your position. Use the arrow keys to move left and right, and press the Spacebar to fire. A second player can join using TGFH for movement and A to shoot.
Tips
- During the catching phase, focus on intercepting the fast-falling Mogwai to prevent them from reaching the food.
- When shooting, clear out the lowest enemies first since they pose the most immediate threat.
- Keep your character centered when possible; over-committing to one side of the screen makes it difficult to react to drops on the opposite edge.
