Game description:

Greg Norman’s Golf Power is a classic sports simulation released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1992. Developed by Gremlin Graphics and published by Virgin Games, it brings the strategic challenge of professional golf to the 8-bit era. With the legendary Australian golfer Greg Norman serving as both the namesake and a playable character, players can tackle various holes, deal with changing wind conditions, and work on perfecting their swing on the digital fairway.

How to Play

The objective is to complete the course with the lowest possible score by carefully managing your swing power and choosing the right clubs. Here are the default NES controls mapped to your browser:

  • D-pad (Arrow Keys): Aim your shot, adjust your stance, or navigate menus.
  • A Button (Z Key): Start your swing, set power, and determine accuracy.
  • B Button (X Key): Cancel actions or return to the previous screen.
  • Start (Enter): Pause the game or confirm selections.
  • Select (Shift): Switch between options.

Tips

  • Master the Swing Meter: The game uses a traditional three-click swing meter. Press A to start the swing, press it again at the top of the meter for maximum power, and a third time at the bottom line for perfect accuracy.
  • Watch the Wind: Wind speed and direction heavily influence the ball’s trajectory. Always factor it into your aim and club selection before taking a shot.
  • Club Selection Matters: Don’t rely solely on the default club suggestion. Sometimes a slightly less powerful club allows for a more controlled approach shot to the green, especially when trying to avoid hazards.
