Green Beret (Japan) is a classic side-scrolling action game developed by Konami for the NES. Known as Rush’n Attack in Western regions, the game puts you in the boots of a special forces operative infiltrating enemy territory to rescue prisoners of war. Armed initially with only a combat knife, you must navigate heavily guarded bases, dodging or dispatching endless waves of rushing soldiers to survive.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the end of each stage without losing all your lives, using close-quarters combat as your primary defense. Defeating specific yellow-clad enemies will drop limited-use special weapons like bazookas or grenades to help you clear the screen.

• Up Arrow: Jump / Climb ladders
• Down Arrow: Crouch
• Left/Right Arrows: Move
• B Button (X key): Attack with knife

Tips

• Prioritize crouching: Crouching is often much safer than jumping when avoiding incoming enemy fire, as it makes you a smaller target.
• Beware of ladders: If you touch a ladder while jumping mid-air, you will automatically grab onto it, which can accidentally place you in the line of fire.
• Conserve special weapons: Save your bazookas and grenades for tricky clusters of enemies or end-of-stage obstacles, and rely on your knife for standard soldiers.
