Game description:

Ghoul Patrol is the 1994 SNES sequel to the cult classic Zombies Ate My Neighbors, bringing back teenagers Zeke and Julie for another top-down action shooter. Developed by LucasArts, the game sends the duo traveling through timeโ€”from the age of pirates to medieval timesโ€”to battle animated skeletons, flying demons, and possessed historical figures. The core gameplay loop remains intact: players must navigate maze-like levels and rescue scattered victims before advancing, but the sequel introduces new movement options like jumping and sliding to evade danger.

How to Play

Your objective is to explore each era, rescue every victim on the map, and defeat the boss to progress. Use the arrow keys to move around. Press S (mapped to the SNES Y button) to fire your equipped weapon, and X (SNES B) to jump over obstacles and gaps. You can cycle through your available items and weapons using Q and E (L and R), and activate your selected item with Z (SNES A). Press Enter to pause and check your radar.

Tips

  • Use your new jumping and sliding abilities constantly to dodge incoming projectiles and maneuver around faster enemies.
  • Conserve your special weapon ammunition for bosses and tougher ghouls; rely on your default crossbow for regular encounters.
  • Pay attention to the radar to quickly locate remaining victims and the exit door before time or your health runs out.
