Galaxy 5000 is an isometric sci-fi combat racing game released for the NES in 1991. Developed by Coconuts Japan and published by Activision, players compete in futuristic hovercrafts across solar system tracks, navigating treacherous hazards, sharp turns, and aggressive opponents.
How to Play
Race against three other hovercrafts to cross the finish line first while surviving the dangerous tracks. Use your weapons to damage opponents and earn money to upgrade your craft between races. Since this is an NES game, the controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to steer, Z to accelerate, and X to fire your weapons or jump. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
Use your ship’s jump ability to avoid incoming fire, mines, and gaps in the track. Because cornering can be tricky in the isometric perspective, it is often better to let off the accelerator (Z) slightly before sharp turns rather than trying to steer at top speed.
