Galaxian is the pioneering 1984 fixed shooter developed by Namco for the NES in Japan. As the precursor to the legendary Galaga, this faithful arcade port puts you in the cockpit of the Galaxip starfighter to defend against waves of dive-bombing alien formations in colorful, fast-paced space combat.
Your mission is to clear each wave of aliens by shooting them out of the sky before they destroy your ship. While the swarm initially hovers in formation at the top of the screen, individual aliens and small groups will frequently break off and dive toward you in erratic patterns. Use the Arrow keys to move your ship left and right across the bottom of the screen. Press Z or X to fire your laser, and Enter to start the game.
Focus on hitting the aliens while they are diving rather than in formation, as destroying them in motion awards significantly more points. Since you can only have one shot on the screen at a time, aim carefullyโmissing a target leaves you temporarily defenseless until the laser travels off the top of the screen. Prioritize the yellow flagship aliens, especially when they dive with red escorts, to score massive combo bonuses.
