Game description:

Fritz 2 is a classic chess program published by ChessBase for DOS in 1992. As an early entry in the legendary Fritz series, it features a powerful chess engine that provides a robust challenge for players of all skill levels, offering deep position analysis, a built-in opening book, and adjustable difficulty settings.

How to play

The objective is to checkmate your opponent’s king. The game is controlled using standard keyboard inputs or a mouse to navigate menus and move your pieces. You can adjust the engine’s playing strength, set specific time controls, and set up custom board positions to practice endgames. For fullscreen mode, press Right Alt + Enter.

Tips

  • Use the game’s analysis mode to review your completed matches; letting the engine evaluate your moves is an excellent way to identify mistakes and improve your overall play.
  • If you are a beginner, start on a lower difficulty setting and focus on establishing control of the center of the board before tackling the engine at its full strength.
