The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock is a 1994 SNES action-platformer developed and published by Taito, produced in partnership with Hanna-Barbera. Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble compete for the top job at the Water Buffalos Lodge by racing rival club members to the fabled Treasure of Sierra Madrock, moving across a dice-driven board that leads into short platforming stages, boss fights, and shops along the way.
How to Play
Roll the dice to move Fred or Barney (playable solo or with a second player) across a themed world map spanning Bedrock, the icy Snowrock, and the volcanic Magmarock. Landing on different spaces can drop you into a side-scrolling platform level, a boss fight, a shop, or – if you land where your wife Wilma or Betty is waiting – send you sliding backward along the board, sugoroku-style. In the platform stages, swing a wood club to fend off dinosaurs and rival Water Buffalos while collecting brontoburgers for energy and clams to spend at the shops. Certain spaces trigger stadium racing minigames against specific club members for the items you need to keep advancing.
Controls in the browser: arrow keys to move, Z and X for your two action buttons, and Enter to start or pause.
Tips
- The stadium racing minigames are noticeably tougher than the platforming stages, so stock up on brontoburgers before you take one on.
- Keep an eye on which board spaces put Wilma or Betty in your path – landing on one of them drags you backward and can cost real progress.
- Write down your password after clearing a stage; it’s the only way to pick the game back up from where you left off.
