Flek! is a 1991 DOS card game developed by Jaroslav Pivoňka that brings the traditional Czech trick-taking game of Mariáš to the PC. In this digital adaptation, you compete against two computer-controlled opponents on a minimalist green tabletop, aiming to build your starting bank by winning rounds and strategically doubling the stakes—an action known as a “Flek.”
How to play
The game focuses on the “volený” variant of Mariáš, where your goal is to win tricks and avoid losing your balance to the AI opponents. You control the game using the Arrow keys to navigate and select your cards, Enter to confirm your play, and Esc to exit. To toggle full-screen mode in the emulator, press Right Alt + Enter.
Tips
- A solid understanding of real-life Mariáš rules is highly recommended, as the game assumes you already know how to play.
- Pay close attention to your starting funds. Losing your entire bank of 100 CZK will result in an immediate game over.
