Final Fantasy VI Expanded is a fan-made ROM hack of the legendary 16-bit RPG for the Super Nintendo (SNES). Building upon one of the most celebrated titles in the genre, this hack aims to enhance the original game’s deep narrative, memorable ensemble cast, and intricate Magicite system. It offers veteran players a fresh way to experience the beloved classic, typically introducing gameplay rebalances, bug fixes, and new challenges while preserving the core elements that made the original a masterpiece.
How to Play
As a traditional RPG, gameplay is divided between exploring the world map, navigating towns and dungeons, and engaging in Active Time Battles (ATB). Your objective is to guide the Returners in their fight against the Gestahlian Empire and the rogue clown Kefka.
Default Controls (Browser):
- Arrow Keys: Move characters / Navigate menus
- Z: Confirm / Talk / Examine (SNES A)
- X: Cancel / Dash (SNES B)
- S: Open the main menu (SNES X)
- Enter: Start / Pause
- Shift: Select
Tips
- Rotate Espers: Don’t keep the same Espers equipped on the same characters forever. Ensure multiple party members learn essential spells like Cure and Raise.
- Exploit Edgar’s Tools: In the early stages of the game, Edgar’s tools (like the Auto Crossbow and Bio Blaster) are incredibly powerful and deal multi-target damage without consuming MP.
- Wait for Shadow: Without spoiling too much, when you are given a choice to jump or wait on a floating continent, always wait until the last possible second.
