Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge is a Formula One racing game released for the NES in 1992 by Acclaim Entertainment. Based on the 1991 Formula One World Championship, it puts you behind the wheel of a Ferrari as you compete across real-world circuits from that season. As a more simulation-leaning racer for the 8-bit era, it requires you to manage your speed through tight corners and handle pit stops to maintain your tires and fuel.
How to Play
Your objective is to complete practice laps to qualify for a good starting grid position, then race to the finish line against international competitors. For the NES, use the arrow keys to steer, accelerate with Z, and brake with X. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select. During races, monitor your fuel and tire wear so you can pit before your car becomes undriveable.
Tips
- Memorizing track layouts during practice is crucial; braking early into sharp corners prevents you from sliding onto the grass and losing valuable seconds.
- Don’t ignore your pit crew. If you stay out too long on worn tires, your grip will degrade severely, making steering at high speeds almost impossible.
