Developed by Imagic and released for the Atari 2600 in 1983, Fathom is a unique action game where you take on the role of Proteus. Your mission is to rescue Neptune’s daughter by assembling a magical trident, requiring you to seamlessly transform between a seagull to explore the skies and a dolphin to navigate the ocean depths.
How to play
The objective is to collect all the trident pieces by gathering stars in the sky and rescuing mermaids underwater. You switch between your dolphin and seagull forms by touching the water’s surface. Use the Arrow keys to move and the Spacebar for your primary action button. Use F11 to choose a game mode and F12 to reset.
Tips
- Pay attention to your breath meter when swimming as a dolphin; if it runs out, you will lose a life, so surface for air regularly.
- Avoid touching the volcanic eruptions and enemy birds in the sky, as well as the dark octopuses in the ocean.
- The game speeds up and becomes more difficult with each completed trident, so prioritize grabbing the necessary items quickly before the hazards overwhelm you.
