Game description:

F-1 World Grand Prix II is a realistic Formula One racing simulator released for the Nintendo 64 in 1999. Serving as the direct sequel to the acclaimed original, the game features the authentic drivers, teams, and circuits of the 1998 F1 World Championship season. Players can compete in a full Grand Prix season, tackle individual races in Exhibition mode, or race against the clock in Time Trials, all while managing car setups, tire wear, and fuel loads.

How to Play

The goal is to master the demanding handling of an F1 car and secure the World Championship. Default Nintendo 64 controls map steering to the analog stick (arrow keys), acceleration to the A button (Z key), and braking to the B button (X key). Use the shoulder buttons to shift gears manually if you have chosen that transmission option, and use the C-buttons to change your camera view while racing.

Tips

  • Smooth steering: Use gentle, precise movements with the analog stick. Sudden, jerky steering will scrub off speed and cause excessive tire wear.
  • Weather strategy: Pay attention to the weather forecast before the race. If rain is expected, adjust your pit strategy and ensure you switch to wet tires to maintain grip.
  • Slipstreaming: Tucking in directly behind an opponent on long straights reduces drag, giving you a noticeable speed boost to execute overtaking maneuvers.
