Game description:

Excitebike 64 is a 3D motocross racing game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2001. Developed by Left Field Productions, this title brings the classic dirt bike racing formula into full 3D. Players compete in indoor supercross arenas and sprawling outdoor tracks, balancing speed with precise bike handling to master jumps and terrain.

How to Play

The objective is to win races by outmaneuvering opponents and perfectly timing your jumps. Use the arrow keys (mapped to the N64 control stick) to steer left and right, and to lean forward or backward. The A button (typically mapped to X) is used to accelerate, the B button (Z key) to brake, and the Z-trigger or shoulder buttons to engage turbo. Proper mid-air adjustment is essential to keep your momentum.

Tips

  • Watch your engine temperature gauge when using turbo; if the gauge fills up, your bike will overheat and temporarily stall.
  • Adjust your mid-air pitch to match the slope of your landing. Landing evenly on a downward ramp prevents crashes and maintains your top speed.
  • Use your turbo strategically on straightaways or right before a large ramp to clear obstacles you would otherwise miss.
