Game description:

Dragon Warrior II is a seminal role-playing game developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix for the NES in 1990. Set a century after the original, you take on the role of the Prince of Midenhall, embarking on a quest to gather your royal cousins and defeat the wicked sorcerer Hargon. This sequel significantly expanded the scope of the series by introducing a multi-character party system, ship navigation across a sprawling world map, and battles against multiple enemies at once.

How to Play

Your goal is to track down your cousins, the Prince of Cannock and Princess of Moonbrooke, and level up your party to survive the journey to Hargon’s castle. The default NES controls are:

  • D-Pad (Arrow Keys): Move and navigate menus.
  • A Button (Z): Confirm selections, talk, and search.
  • B Button (X): Cancel menu actions.
  • Start (Enter) / Select (Shift): Pause or open menus depending on the context.

Tips

  • The Prince of Midenhall cannot use magic, so rely on him for heavy physical damage and equip him with the best weapons and armor.
  • Once you acquire the ship, monsters at sea can be dangerous; make sure your party is well-stocked with medicinal herbs and magic points before exploring the oceans.
