Game description:

Dragon Warrior III (also known as Dragon Quest III) is a defining 1988 role-playing game developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix for the SNES. Expanding significantly upon its predecessors, the game introduces a flexible class system that allows you to recruit and customize your party members at the tavern in Aliahan. It also features a sprawling world map complete with a day and night cycle that affects town events and monster encounters.

How to play

As the child of the legendary hero Ortega, your objective is to defeat the archfiend Baramos and save the world. You will explore towns, delve into dungeons, and fight turn-based tactical battles to gain experience and gold.

  • Movement: Arrow keys (↑↓←→)
  • Confirm / Action: Z
  • Cancel / Menu: X
  • Secondary Actions: A, S, Q, E
  • Select: Shift
  • Start: Enter

Tips

  • Diversify your party: A balanced early-game party consists of a Warrior for physical damage, a Cleric for healing, and a Mage for offensive spells.
  • Save your gold for gear: Monsters drop very little gold early on. Rely on the inn for healing rather than buying expensive medicinal herbs, and save up for better weapons in Romaria.
  • Change classes at level 20: Once a character reaches level 20, they can change classes at the Shrine of Dhama, retaining their learned spells but dropping back to level 1.
