Dragon Fighter is a 1990 NES action platformer and side-scrolling shooter hybrid developed by Natsume. Originally released in Japan on August 10, 1990 before reaching North America, the game puts players in control of a sword-wielding warrior fighting through fantasy stages filled with dangerous monsters and bosses.
How to Play
Defeating enemies charges your Dragon Power gauge. Once the gauge has sufficient energy, press Down + X to transform into a flying dragon. While transformed, the game switches into a side-scrolling shoot ’em up format where you can fly around the screen and fire powerful projectiles until your energy drains.
- Arrow Keys: Move left, right, crouch, or aim.
- Z: Attack with your sword (human form) or shoot projectiles (dragon form).
- X: Jump.
- Down + X: Transform into dragon form when the power gauge is ready.
- Enter: Start or pause the game.
- Shift: Select.
Tips
- Save your dragon transformation for boss fights or dense waves of enemies where aerial movement and ranged fire give you a major advantage.
- Keep an eye on your dragon power gauge so you are not caught off guard when the transformation ends mid-flight.
