Game description:

Dragon Buster II – Yami no Fuuin (Seal of Darkness) is a Japan-exclusive action-adventure game released for the Famicom (NES) in 1989 by Namco. Serving as a prequel to the original side-scrolling arcade hit, this entry shifts to a top-down perspective reminiscent of early Zelda titles. As the hero Carl, you must navigate an overworld map, delve into maze-like dungeons, and defeat six great dragons to retrieve a legendary sword.

Unlike its predecessor, combat is entirely focused on ranged attacks using a bow. In the browser, navigate the world using the Arrow Keys, shoot arrows with Z, and start or pause the game with Enter. Your arrows can ricochet off dungeon walls, creating unique strategic angles for defeating enemies around corners. To escape each maze-like dungeon, you must explore its layout and defeat a specific enemy holding the exit key.

Pay close attention to the color of Carl's tunic, which serves as your health meterโ€”it changes from blue to green, yellow, and finally red as you take damage. Keep an eye out for fairies dropped by enemies; collecting them restores your health, and gathering four fairies while at maximum health will grant you an extra life.
