Dharma Doujou (also known as Daruma Dojo) is a fast-paced Japanese puzzle game released for the Super Famicom (SNES) in 1995. Based on the traditional children’s game Daruma Otoshi, it challenges you to quickly knock matching blocks from the bottom of a stack without letting the pile collapse. As a console port of an earlier arcade title, this SNES version streamlines movement by automatically aligning your character with the outermost block and adds multiple exclusive game modes.
How to play
Your goal is to clear the board by striking matching blocks with your mallet and knocking them into a chute. If a knocked block doesn’t match the one below it, it stays in the well and can complicate your stack. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to navigate menus and select targets, press A or B (Z or X) to swing your mallet, and use Start (Enter) to pause or confirm selections.
Tips
- Plan ahead: Look at the entire stack before swinging. Knocking out a block changes the arrangement of everything above it, which can either set up a combo or trap you.
- Manage the well: Don’t just strike blocks blindly. Unmatched blocks left in the chute will pile up and quickly end your run.
